We have been measuring like mad in second grade! There is so much you can do with measurement! I pulled out some of the games I made last year and then made a couple new ones so I could make sure I hit all the new areas of common core!
We made flip charts to show the rules of measurement....
We played "owl bout a foot" to know more, less, and about a foot....
We sorted cards after determining if they should measure with inches, feet or yards...
We played "Slap it" with meters versus centimeters where they had to determine which unit of measurement we would use...
We also sorted meter and centimeter cards and recorded them on a record sheet! The kids had to decide what item would be measured in cm or m....
We are measurement crazy!
